As a style and travel journalist, Yvo has immersed himself in the world of seductive scents from an early age. Thanks to his interviews and close contacts with several renowned perfumers, he has been active in the world of niche perfumes himself since 2017. With YVRA he aims to offer an inspiring alternative in a world dominated by commercial fragrances. In composing his scents, he is therefore attracted to the world of original thinkers and dandies.

My favorite of the set is the instant classic YVRA 1958 (also my birth year) L'Essence De L'Essence, and I have now ordered it in full size. It's great to see that a Dutch perfume can immediately compete with scents such as Creed Vetiver, Guerlain Jicky, and Hermes Homme, all of which I own, but this 1958 deserves to be immediately included into the international Perfume Hall of Fame, as far as I can see it. Chapeau to the inventor!

From the dawn of early reminiscence, Yvo van Regteren Altena has reveled in the world of scent. Traveling the globe as a lifestyle journalist, he met perfume virtuosi, the world’s great ‘noses’, and was privileged to unlock the secrets behind spellbinding scents. His knowledge and passion was bottled in 2015, his dream creation: YVRA 1958.
This original masterwork combines intriguing ingredients: fleur d’oranger, cedar wood, pepper oil and patchouli. The result is a scent as elegant as it is transparent with a touch more pizzazz than the great classics.

YVRA 1979 is reminiscent of the classic perfumes with a European flair, that dominated the end of the last century. It’s a woody, mysterious and sophisticated fragrance with
a long-lasting capacity.
L'Essence de Présence contains a number of high-quality selected ingredients. It’s an invitingly fragrance, thanks to the mix of patchouli, pepper and mystical woody notes. After an opening cord of bergamot and vétiver, the fragrance will reveal it’s elegant and warm cords of cedar- and Guaiac wood. The tempting thing about this lively and mysterious long-lasting formula, is that both women and men around the globe love to wear it.

YVRA 1965 L’Essence de Flamboyance in honour of Porfirio Rubirosa, is a seductive fragrance dedicated to the most famous playboy of the 20th century.
Rubirosa was a jet-set pioneer, charmer, race car driver and talented polo player. He was widely seen to be in the same class as Don Juan and Casanova, and was married to the two richest women in the world.
The fragrance is seductive, sexy and very powerful. A lot of high-quality raw materials refer to Rubirosa’s life; for example, hints of leather (Polo) and an ingredient such as pink pepper honours his nickname, the peppermill. There is bergamot, lemon, orange, incense, cedar, musk and lots of patchouli. Sophisticated, refined and very distinctive!

L’Essence de L’Explorance is the fifth and latest fragrance of the YVRA house. With a powerful, exciting and aromatic fougère character, L’Essence de L’Explorance stimulates the senses with an original and invigorating fragrance. YVRA 1991 is a testament to sophistication and invites us to let out our inner dandy.
1991 is a reference to the year in which the World Wide Web was introduced. Both the packaging and the bottle are beautifully finished with references to our digital dependence. In the last year and a half especially, because of Covid, computers and smartphones were our lifelines to the outside world.

YVRA 1500 L'Essence de Distance is a fragrance so overpowering, so intense and concentrated that after you spray it on you feel almost unapproachable. The surprising top notes are so thrilling that for a few seconds people around you will respect the 1500mm distance.
A spicy woody scent that immediately tickles the nose. There is a strong presence of Osmanthus, an extremely powerful smelling plant that originates from the Himalayas. To calm down the power YVRA 1500 opens with a mix of bitter orange, mint and the transparent freshness of beech wood.
Our precious mix makes l'Essence de Distance an irresistible and even addictive fragrance that people will remember for a long time.
